.
Its time for back to school and I wanted to prep myself and my kids for the soon transition.
As the summer is winding down, my daughter (KINDERGARTEN) and son(PRESCHOOL) go back to school july 29th and im starting my school in the late of August. I'm taking the time now to begin preparing for school so i can make the new school year easier on my family. Im making this so in the future when school season comes back around again i can go back to this for help. Getting ready, from starting on a school sleep schedule to cleaning up my computer. here is what im doing to prep for school season.
Start the transition early
Take the kids shopping:
- School deals like to happen 2 weeks in advanced, in-store and online I got awesome coupon deals from Macy's, Wal-Mart, Ross, and even Children s Place. But Since my kids are young, they are not into the whole clothes shopping, it was easy, but more actual school shopping like backpacks and lunch pails they really liked that
Sleep schedule
- Two weeks before the school is starting im putting them on a sleep schedule. I have no problem with them going to bed early but I have a problem with them waking up early. yeah my kids love waking up at brunch time hours, but I have to cut that out since their school starts between 8 am to 930 am. So the new sleep schedule will be an adventure to explore, reason being is that, they get cranky early in the morning.
- It will prolly be better if I start adjusting to pack lunch the night before. So starting this week ill be prepping lunch for them at night for the next day. Also im gonna start putting little positive sticky notes saying things like you are doing great and im so proud of you and "good news = a good surprise" . I know my kids cant read yet so I tell them before they leave me what the note will say, so they will remember.
Safety first
- I'm letting my kids know what their schedule will be like. even if they dont understand they will see it for them selves and realize what i was telling them.
- Practice TEACHING about not talking to stranger. its one thing to talk about it, but to teach them is a whole other level. I'm teaching them secret passwords in case im not there to pick them up. and to just stay in the office until a family member arrives. Momma dont play im doing my best to keep my kids safe even when they are out of my reach,
*A little activity for me to do that they will love*
this one will be my most favorite. I have a poster board for my kids, that i made from scratch, and it shows in one column how they felt waking up , one column showing how they did in school and how they are feeling coming home. i also made a height chart from scratch so they can be excited. I'll show in another post how i made them.
The moms returning to school
- stack up on tylenol , tea, coffee and mints
- clean out your computer for the benefit of your schooling and your kids schooling
- set a sleep schedule for you to concentrate on homework. I am doing a sleep schedule on me, since the whole summer I was sleeping in early and enjoying the pool life. So now that school is in im finding a time for me to keep awake and finish homework and projects without the kiddy distraction
- work on carpools and emergency pick ups for the kids if you're running late to or from school.
- even though my commute wont be too bad because part of my schooling is online still you need to check your car for leaks tire leaks oil spark plug coils etc.
For the both of you
Do up a big breakfast.
- important meal of the day and even special on the first day bacon omelettes pancakes eggs grits waffles( i need a waffle maker badly) french toast, just typing it makes me feel hungry and excited for the first day. Also a nice dinner would be a good thought if its possible
- Share memories of the summer before you get to caught up in homework.
